Hammam Al Jadeed is the largest and most significant hammam in the old city. Built in 1720 by Mustafa Hammoud, it was closed down in the late 1940’s and recently restored and reopened by the Sharqy Foundation for Cultural Development and Innovation to host exhibitions and cultural events. The hammam is characterized by its unique Ottoman ornamentation evident in its central hall and fountain and for the stained-glass openings in its multi-bathroom domes.
