El Barrani Mosque was built throughout the reign of Emir Fakhreddine II and named Barrani (outside) or Bab (door) Mosque, indicating its location at the Beirut gate, outside the urban fabric of the old city. Saifeedine and Melhem, sons of Prince Fakhreddine, are buried within its premises, which gives its historic value. El Barrani Mosque was restored by the Municipality of Saida and the Islamic Endowment Department.
