Built in the 14th century by Hassan bin Sawah to face the seaport, this Mamluk-style Jameh Al Bahr (Mosque of the Sea) has the tallest minaret in Old Saida. It comprises of stone cross vaults and thick walls with continuously annexed additions, previously including an old Quran school managed by the Al Hammoud Wakf. The mosque has been renovated by the Municipality of Saida and the Islamic Endowment Department.
