The site, earlier featuring the Frères College, has been undergoing excavations, by the Directorate General of Antiquities and the British Museum since 1998. It is considered one of the richest urban sites in Lebanon, presenting archaeological features dating back to the fourth millennium B.C. The site provides rich information about daily activities practised throughout the ages, particularly worship and burial traditions. The Saida History Museum, currently set up on-site through a Kuwaiti fund, will host artefacts discovered during excavations held in Saida region and will take tourists on a real-time experience around the site, telling the city’s historic and cultural stories.
