Masjed Qalaat El Bahr
The most elegant “Mosque of the Sea Fortress” whose origin is probably Mameluke, underwent numerous renovations, the last of which dates back to the Emir Fakhreddine II era. Its’ architecture is very simple: a cubic form topped by a central dome, dominating the southern front of the crusader fortification. The main original element of this mosque remains the “mihrab” cantilevered on the external wall. It indicates clearly the correct direction for prayer.
